According to Peter Zeihan, the Russians are not top notch at oil engineering. During the Soviet Union falling apart, a lot pipelines froze and suffered damage that only European/American engineers could repair and spent the next 3 decades repairing. Those repairs finished literally just before February 2022 when Russia ramped up its invasion; perhaps Russia felt it didn't need them anymore. But now those same pipelines might freeze again because of sanctions not allowing oil/petroleum to be taken out, stopping up the flow. If I find the Peter Zeihan link I'll post it.
