Because American elites (whether Democrats or Republicans) actually do not want to pay living or fair wages to their gardeners or assisted living personnel. American elites (whether Democrats or Republicans) want to remain an elite presiding over a vast lower class that they can wage triage into desperate poverty. Look at the most Democratic Party-dominated states in the USA, California & New York, where wealth disparities increase returning basically to feudal societies. Look at the bastions of elite Democratic Party thought, American colleges/universities, where Ph.D.s in history are forced into poverty-wage part-time adjunct professorships while full-time administrators with benefits force American taxpayers to pay for their fulltime benefits like retirement and health insurance through college loan forgiveness, passing on none of that coerced taxpayer largesse to the actual Ph.D.s!
