For running, California has tons of coastal "mountains/hills" that are un developable and have views. Florida is flat: You don't know you're near the beach until your just like 100 ft from it, but in California you can go on runs and see the beach literally sometimes over a dozen miles away. Florida buildings get hit by hurricanes and so have to be ugly to be resistant.
