Hamas already has a state there. Hamas had its own election, and has its own police and military forces. A “state” is the organization with a monopoly on (legitimate) violence. Hamas already has a state. Just because some other governments don’t recognize the Hamas State Government by sending ambassadors to it doesn’t meant that the Hamas State Government doesn’t exist in reality de facto on the ground. It does exist. In reality. On the ground. Israel pulled out from Gaza in 2005 and shut down its settlements there. Rather than reciprocate Israel’s goodwill gesture, Hamas has ramped up its attacks, which is why Israel has justifiably ramped up its embargo. Hamas deserves the embargo it’s been facing.
