Here's where you're not getting it. As Adam Smith said, it's NOT the government's job to solve problems: It's the job of government to use its monopoly on legitimate violence (the only thing that makes government government, that makes it unique) to create conditions whereby people can solve problems themselves with voluntary organizations (unlike government, which is a coercive, involuntary organization). Creating conditions means specifically government using its monopoly on violence to make sure no one is committing violence against people who are busy working to solve their own problems. The proper job of government is to clear unfair obstacles so people can solve problems themselves with voluntary (meaning non-governmental) organizations (NGOs).
