How do you plan on avoiding any of these? Meteor strike. A regular volcano explosion creates agricultural problems already; a supervolcano explosion would be catastrophic. Of the five mass extinctions in the past (we're in the six human-caused one now), at least one really has no strong hypotheses about why it occurred, and the rest are really on pretty good guesses. Yellowstone exploding could destroy human civilization; what if another Deccan or Siberian Traps happens? Leave you feeling comfortable? Another Carrington Event solar flare will happen sooner or later, disrupting electrical systems for years and likely causing hundreds of millions if not billions of deaths. The Earth's magnetic field polarity flipping won't be much better. Any moment, a rogue planet, or small black hole could pass through or by our solar system, throwing the Earth's orbit out of whack and potentially rendering the Earth uninhabitable. How on Earth (pun intended) do you intend to avoid any of these? I don't care who's in space - Humanity needs to know how to live in space so that we can help each other survive these disasters, all of which will eventually happen. Frankly, I don't care who it is that helps humanity figure out how to live in space.
