I am an Orthodox Christian (American convert from Protestantism), and I really think that the Russian church is being governed by demonic forces right now. The devil puts his greatest effort into corrupting clergy. Whenever I talk with Putin supporters, or anyone being wishy-washy or ridiculously on the fence about the situation, I tell them: "Starting the killing is not the answer. If you see problems with the West, your responsibility is to become a more loving, healthy place that attracts people. You don’t solve problems in other countries by starting the killing." In response Putin supporters will go on and on about whataboutism and how the things America & Europe do have second and third order effects that cause deaths. Sure, that’s true, but that’s how American leftists think too: American leftists see no difference between physical violence and "verbal violence". This sort of thinking escalates conflict, both among Putinists and the American left. Killing people is a hard stop. You never, ever, ever, ever start the killing.
