I don't like the idea of giving in to Putin, but if anyone wants peace right now, acknowledging Putin's de facto control over eastern Ukraine is probably the right way to go. I just think that the only way to try to be fair about it to Ukraine would be to bring Ukraine immediately into NATO, not in a week or a month or a few years after an "onboarding" process or some such. Bring Ukraine into NATO right now. And establish dividend-paying trust funds for the people of Ukraine to help them rebuild!
