If anyone is curious about Volek's ideas, I would encourage checking them out. His basic suggestion is that adopting small-r republican tiers of legislatures as the foundation for the political system could represent a better balance of political power. You local town legislature representatives choose the state/province representatives. The State/province representatives choose the national legislature representatives. Each legislature decides how it wants to organize executive/judicial power. It would mean no more direct vote for President or Senators, no more state referenda. Maybe that's the right way to go, I dunno. Is that an accurate summary?
