If you want to make the perfect the enemy of the good (which is what you're doing), then what are your criteria for graduating a society to "good"? If no one, literally no one, is ever good in your estimation, then do you consistently never take sides on anything? I bet you do take sides, which means that your "no good guys" schtick is just a get out of jail free rhetorical card you cheaply pull out whenever you want to holier than thou.
