It seems like most Airbnb locations now charge hundreds of dollars in cleaning fees, aaaaaaand then still expect the guests to clean things up a ton. Once I left all the dirty towels in a pile on the floor like you do at hotels, and the Airbnb host lambasted me for that while charging the cleaning fee. And the cleaning fee and other fees are not in the original "price" you see, as you point out, make it not any cheaper than hotels anymore.
