It seems that Israel got what it wanted, because all Israel wants is peace, and since 2006 Hizbullah hasn't done much against Israel. By what criteria are you asserting that Israel was "defeated" or "humiliated"? Not much territory changed hands, if at all. Far fewer IDF died than Hizbullah. Seems to me that the outcome was mostly in Israel's favor. All Israel wants is peace. That Hizbullah started the war shows how Muslims are striking first: Israel pulled out of Lebanon in 2000 as a goodwill gesture, and instead of reciprocating goodwill, Hizbullah atttacked in 2006. Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005, and instead of reciprocating the Goodwill, Hamas has been attacking ever since. And Muslims were the ones who started the attacks in the 1800s because they didn’t like Jews peacefully buying land. https://medium.com/non-violence/zionist-jews-did-nothing-wrong-make-turks-pay-reparations-for-oppressing-arab-tenant-farmers-41285f9716bf
