Let's say a toxic coworker does the right thing for the wrong reasons, like actually giving credit to someone else for the work they did rather than trying to take credit, maybe in order to temporarily allay allegations that they (the toxic coworker) are toxic. Should the toxic coworker be given credit for doing something right for once? According to your logic, no the toxic coworker should not. My positions is that even if you know the toxic coworker did the right thing but for the wrong reason, the toxic coworker should receive normal accolades for doing the right thing.
