Sorry to spam your article with comments, but it raises tooooons of interesting issues. Here's my more off the wall idea to involve kids in democratic governance: Make schools at least partly worker-owned enterprises, and give kids a financial incentive to learn governance, which will lead naturally into learning about political separation of powers.
