The 1619 Project itself is founded on a lie by characterizing slavery as starting in 1619! It's purpose is also a lie, aimed to tarnish Republicans, even though Republicans provably and evidently bring greater racial equality than Democrats like they always have ever since the 1850s. In 1619, the Africans were not brought as slaves, but the whole purpose of the project is to convey the impression that they were! It's based on a lie! "In 1619...the Dutch traded the enslaved Africans to the Colonials as indentured servants...Anthony Johnson. Anthony Johnson was one of the first African Americans to have finished his services as an indentured servant and become a landowner on the Eastern Shore and slave-owner himself." https://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~arihuang/academic/abg/slavery/history.html and then decades Anthony Johnson sued one of his African indentured servants to create the first legal slave in the American Colonies: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/horrible-fate-john-casor-180962352/
