The only way to preserve human democracy and freedom is to change how people like you perceive the role of government. The role of government is ---not--- to do stuff domestically, or accomplish anything domestically. The role of the government domestically is to encourage citizens to take matters into their own hands using purely voluntary non-governmental relationships and organizations. Using government means using the government's monopoly on legitimate violence to enforce laws/regs; this structural violence undermines every government action.
