The primary determining factor here should be is something voluntary or not? The only drag queen uproars I have seen are about government library staff using their professional discretion to arrange such events and parents knowingly bringing their children. So far, so good, it’s all voluntary and democratically authorized. Conservatives may protest that their taxpayer dollars may be paying for these events, but that's how democracy works: If conservatives don't like it, they should win elections and have elected representatives change what government libraries are doing. The only problem here I see is theoretically if librarians were discriminating against conservative non-religious events. I am conservative, but also libertarian and prefer that libraries not be government-run. I would not want to get rid of public libraries, though, until something like a nearly-robust solution is offered instead, and I would want all libraries like all non-profits to be partly worker-controlled.
