The Tartars are not the indigenous people of Crimea. The Tartars' Turkic ancestors brutally conquered the territory from the previous inhabitants, Goths and Greeks. But even the Goths and Greeks weren't the "indigenous" inhabitants. There were others before them, like the Kurgan culture. In reality, that land, like many other lands, has seen multiple ethnicities move in and then later get conquered and eradicated.
