You are ignoring the only important issue: Which soldiers will guard an independent Crimea? Not Singapore soldiers. What if Russia attacks; who will defend? Will Ukrainian soldiers help an independent Crimea defend itself? Does the local populace even want independence, and if so, do they have enough resources and will to hold off a Russian attack?
