You're almost at the fundamental issue: who uses violence and for what purposes. Willingness to use violence to prevent others from touching something is ownership of that thing. Ownership is about violence, not so much religion. With ownership laws, society says "Our police will wield violence against you if you deviate from these rules". The carjacker owns the car until the police come and wield more effective violence to prevent the carjacker from touching the car again, and the police permit the former owner to be the only person permitted to touch the car again; thus that former owner regains ownership.
