The original author is conflating the macro with the personal/micro. I bet a lot of those American men would also say that they support equal everything for all women, and even more importantly, I bet you a lot of those American men if they have both daughters and sons give equal resources to both genders of children to attain education.

The unfortunate truth for American women is that while American men typically aren't as emotionally mature as they are, American men are typically far more emotionally mature and open to equal rights than foreign men are. (Sure, there are foreign men in every nationality who are emotionally mature and support real equality for women, but the truth is that's true at a far lower rate for foreign men than for American men.) And so when foreign women meet American men, they treat the American men like emotionally mature yogis because, in comparison to foreign men, American men are far more emotionally mature and supportive of equality for women in general.
